Four Years in the Making: Pamela Peña Builds a Career at Sharyland
1,000 career kills was the milestone.
But the more you look at Sharyland senior Pamela Peña’s four-year varsity career, the more that number becomes only part of the story.
Peña recently surpassed 1,000 career kills, another accomplishment in a career that has included district championships, individual honors and steady growth from her freshman season to her senior year.
And according to updated numbers shared with Diamond DITV, Peña has already pushed well beyond the milestone — to 1,246 career kills and more than 1,400 career digs.
That’s a lot of production on both sides of the ball.
187. Then 367. Then 434.
Peña’s path to 1,000 is easy to see when you break down her first three varsity seasons.
She recorded 187 kills as a freshman in 2023, according to MaxPreps.
As a sophomore, that number jumped to 367 kills.
Then came her junior season.
Peña delivered 434 kills while hitting .308, giving her 988 kills through her first three varsity seasons. Her 434 kills were also the highest total listed among District 31-5A players on MaxPreps in 2025.

Year after year, the production increased.
And Peña wasn’t simply a front-row attacker.
She recorded 407 digs and 59 aces as a sophomore, followed by 316 digs and 38 aces as a junior. In 2025, she led Sharyland in both kills and digs.
That two-way production has continued into her senior season. MaxPreps’ currently available 2026 numbers list Peña as Sharyland’s leader in both kills per set and digs per set.
From Young Contributor to District Hitter of the Year
Peña has been part of Sharyland’s varsity program since her freshman season.
That first year included an undefeated run through district play and a District 31-5A championship.
As a sophomore, Peña helped another Sharyland team finish 39-4 and 15-1 in district, earning a share of the district championship before winning bi-district and area championships and reaching the regional semifinals.
Peña earned First Team All-District recognition that season.
Then her role grew again.
After leading District 31-5A’s MaxPreps-listed players with 434 kills as a junior, Peña was named District 31-5A Hitter of the Year.
Her MaxPreps profile also records another interesting checkpoint from that stretch: on Sept. 15, 2025, Peña was listed No. 1 in Texas in hitting percentage at .458 on the MaxPreps ranking referenced on her profile.
From a freshman contributing to a championship team to a district Hitter of the Year, the progression is pretty clear.
Twelve Away
And that’s what made 1,000 feel almost inevitable entering her senior season.
Peña’s first three varsity seasons accounted for 988 kills.
She needed 12.
Now she’s not only crossed the line — she’s continuing to build on it.
