McAllen Memorial senior Larae Jones gave us three.

And together, they tell the story better than any position next to her name could.

Jones has now surpassed 750 career kills, 1,000 career digs and 100 career aces during her Memorial career.

She can finish a rally.

She can keep one alive.

And she can create points from the service line.

The best part?

We’ve seen all three ourselves.

It Was There From the Start

Jones’ documented varsity career at Memorial began as a sophomore in 2024.

She didn’t ease into it.

Jones finished that season with 207 kills and 284 digs, ranking third on Memorial in kills and second in digs.

For a sophomore playing her first varsity season, it was an early sign of what was coming.

Her junior year brought more of the same.

Jones recorded 231 kills, 305 digs and 39 aces as Memorial finished 34-9.

Through those two seasons alone, she had already accumulated 438 kills and 589 digs.

Then came her senior year.

And eventually:

750. 1,000. 100.

We Saw the Whole Package Against Pioneer

This is where the numbers become more than numbers for us.

Diamond DITV watched Jones against Sharyland Pioneer earlier this season.

Memorial trailed 9-3 in the fifth set before pulling off a wild 15-13 comeback.

Jones was everywhere.

17 kills.

25 digs.

Two aces.

Her 25 digs led Memorial.

And we didn’t need the final box score to tell us she was having a night. Jones kept grabbing our attention throughout the match—from her power at the net to her work in the back row.

At one point, she delivered a back-row kill and followed it with an ace.

Looking back now, that match feels like a preview of this milestone celebration.

Kills. Digs. Aces.

All three parts of her game showed up on the same night.

What Do You Call Her?

Jones has been listed in multiple roles during her career, including outside hitter and defensive specialist.

Her own player bio uses another description:

Utility player.

That might fit best.

Because 750 kills say attacker.

1,000 digs say defender.

100 aces add another dimension entirely.

Prep Dig has also highlighted Jones’ versatility and ability to attack from multiple spots, while her club career has given her additional opportunities to develop outside the high school season.
